Construction Excellence Wales’ awards 2009

Magnox North and Trawsfynydd Strategic Integrated Framework (TSIF) have been shortlisted in 3 categories in the ‘Construction Excellence Wales’ awards 2009.

Magnox North has been shortlisted in the ‘Client of the Year’ category, which identifies clients that have demonstrated the greatest drive in ensuring best practice principles are adopted on its projects and throughout its supply chain. The Magnox North submission was based around supply chain improvement and the company’s best practice in the delivery of construction projects.

TSIF (a key Supplier at Magnox North’s Trawsfynydd Site) have also been shortlisted for their entries into the Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) and Integration & Collaborative Working awards categories (I&CW) - after the site passed 1000 days without a loss time accident recently.

The constructing Excellence Wales awards are open to all organisations and project teams involved in delivering construction and contributing to the built environment in Wales.

Sion Edwards, Magnox North’s Head of Subcontract Management said: “We are delighted to have been shortlisted in these categories. HSE performance and collaborative working are very important for both Magnox and TSIF on the Trawsfynydd site and I think that we have made great progress on both accounts."

“Our aim is to establish excellence and drive continuous improvement in our project management and in how we engage and communicate with our suppliers. We want to establish long term strategic partnerships with our supply chain, with the goal of delivering value for our customer, the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) and ultimately the UK taxpayer. Our shortlisting for the ‘Client of the Year’ is recognition of our achievements in this area”

There has been a substantial increase in the number of entries into the Constructing Excellence Awards this year, with the judges noting the high standards of submissions. The winners will be announced at a ceremony on 10th September in Cardiff.
