Welsh Language Policy
Magnox North has launched a Welsh Language Policy, which will apply to their three sites based in Wales – Wylfa Site in Anglesey and Trawsfynydd Site and Maentwrog Hydro Station both in Blaenau Ffestiniog.
Magnox North has adopted the principle that throughout Wales it will treat the Welsh and English languages equally in the public domain. They recognise the importance of adopting a bilingual identity for the company in Wales and are committed to increasing its use of Welsh in their paper stationery, signs, marketing materials and website.
All three sites aim to deliver their services bilingually when greeting customers and responding to Welsh correspondence in the medium of Welsh.
Greg Evans, Site Director of Wylfa Site and Maentwrog Hydro Station, who is currently learning how to speak in Welsh said, “Magnox North have recognised the importance that our sites have in our Welsh communities, and are very happy to formalise what our local arrangements have always been. We are very pleased to be able to support efforts to promote and use the Welsh language around our sites"
Whether they are Welsh, English or other, speakers are encouraged to converse freely in the language of their choice.
