NDA announces competition schedule
The UK's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority has announced that the competition for the new contract for the cleanup of the Magnox reactor sites will commence in 2011. Award of the contract is expected by the end of 2012.

First fuel elements removed from Chapelcross reactors
Magnox North’s Chapelcross site began the next phase in its life this week when final de-fuelling of Reactor 1 commenced.

Magnox North has had the go-ahead to start de-fuelling at Chapelcross Site
On Friday 18th July 2008 Chapelcross Site received formal permission from the NII (Nuclear Installations Inspectorate) to commence de-fuelling operations on Reactor 1. This is the start of a 3½ year programme to remove all fuel from Chapelcross and is a major step forward in the site’s decommissioning programme.

Magnox lifts RoSPA award
Magnox Electric has been awarded the 2008 Royalty Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Engineering Construction Sector Award. This is the second year in a row the company has won this honor recognizing performance across the ten Magnox Reactor sites in the United Kingdom.
