Working in the Community

The Hunterston A team have a first class, specific annual Socio-Economic Development Plan dedicated to ensuring proactive support activities are undertaken. These activities benefit the social or economic life of the local community.

The activities undertaken are specifically targeted to help promote the working arrangements and NDA activities, which impact on the community over the longer term.

Key issues which will be continuously reviewed through the Hunterston A Socio-Economic Development Plan:

  • How best to give encouragement and support to activities that provide Socio-Economic benefit to the local community.
  • How our future funding of Socio-Economic activities should be organised to support community initiatives and longer term strategic opportunities.

Our proposed approach:

  • We plan to act as a focal point for stakeholders, providing leadership where appropriate, and act as a facilitator, catalyst and partner where others are best placed to lead/implement.
  • Our focus will be primarily strategic to ensure a coherent and consistent approach across sites at both national and region levels.
  • We believe that local, community based action plans are best developed and implemented locally in consultation with our local community stakeholders and workforce.
  • We plan to develop our approach to agree a way forward to set up a local charitable trust to administer local funding. Membership likely to be members of the Hunterston workforce, management team and members of the Site Stakeholder Group.
  • We commit to listen to, and take into account stakeholder views on our Socio-Economic Development Plan.
